All of our products are grown by local farmers in Bulloch and nearby counties. We have pomegranates, cabbage, okra, Sadandy peas, Pink-eye peas, peppers, sprouts, tomatoes, blueberries, squash, zucchini, pumpkins, herbs, honey, eggs, coffee, bread, milk, butter, cheese, seafood, wild caught Georgia shrimp, beef, pork, candles, soaps, lotions, as well as meals and goodies that are already prepared and ready to eat.

Bootleg Farm and Southern Swiss Dairy both have their products online on Market2Go. They are no longer regulars at the Saturday Market, so look for them here online!

No more membership fees! To maintain support for the market, we add a surcharge of 7% on each order.

Our featured vendor this week is Freeman’s Mill. At Freeman’s Mill the highest quality of product is their chief concern. Their Grits, Corn Meal, and Whole Wheat Flour are Stone Ground from Whole Grains on their 100+ year old granite mills. You can find their products online on Market2Go and at the Main Street Farmers Market, where this Saturday, in addition to the grits, cornmeal and flour, Freeman’s will be offering Miss Nancy’s famous fried apple pies!

October 12th is Apple Day at the Main Street Farmers Market. Relinda went to Ellijay and brought back some Georgia Grown apples! The Market will be selling Fresh Georgia Apples as a benefit for the Market. Gala, Mutsu, and Cameo varieties will all be available for $10 per half-peck bag.

Growing Together :  Growing Together Offerings for October 11th

We have made it through summer and are well into Fall! This is such a wonderful time for growing in the garden – the cooler temps make the produce and the farmers very happy! We have a great diversity of product, as summer crops continue to linger and overlap the new fall crops.
We are nearing the end of our growing season for the Growing Together program. We close the garden at the end of October to give time for cover crop to grow and nourish the soil, preparing to start all over again in the spring. It has been a great year, and we are so appreciative of all the support we have gotten from customers and restaurants all over Nashville.

If you haven’t gotten an order in yet, or still havent had your fill of bok choy and daikon, now is the time!! The Asian greens and radishes are great for making kimchi, fermented greens, or pickles for the winter ahead!

We are harvesting Cranberry Hibiscus from the garden – great for a nice, hot, tea with a natural lemon/cranberry flavor! This sounds real soothing after signs of “winter” showed up this morning! – see recipe below.

David drinks this tea daily to keep his blood pressure low which keeps him off blood pressure medicine. However, if you don’t want to lower your blood pressure, you may want to avoid this tea. But, if you are not as risk of low blood pressure, hibiscus tea can be very beneficial:

Cranberry Hibiscus Tea

Peel the outer part (red/rose colored) of the calyxes away from the seed. Place as many as you’d like (more for a stronger tea and less for a milder tea) in a cup. Pour boiling water into the cup and steep for several minutes to an hour (the longer you steep, the stronger the tea). Strain out the calyx parts (optional) then, sweeten (optional) and enjoy.

Temperatures may be down to 35° tonight. Time to start thinking about feeding the birds in your backyard. We will have a variety of suet cakes available on the extras table today for only $1 each.

We will have cherry tomatoes, collards, squash, kale and other goodies on the extras table today.

This is a pickup reminder for those of you who ordered this week. Thank you for your order! You can pick up your order from 3:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. today at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 925 Mitchell Street in Conway.

If something comes up that you cannot personally pick up your order today, please contact someone to pick up for you.

Remember to bring your EGGSHELLS, glass jars for recycling, egg cartons, and bags for ordered items. Reduce, reuse, recycle! See you this afternoon.
